From 2020 to 2025, the China Concrete & Cement-based Products Association (CCPA) successfully organized four consecutive editions of the UHPC Design and Customization Competition, attracting 138 teams from universities, enterprises, and research institutions across China. Throughout the competitions, participating teams carried out extensive research, innovation, and technical exploration in areas such as UHPC performance enhancement, spherical structure design, and manufacturing processes. These efforts significantly improved the rebound height and impact resistance of UHPC elastic balls, with the highest rebound height reaching 112.5 cm in the fourth competition.

Now, the “Fengling Cup” 5th National Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) Design and Customization Competition returns with the theme “UHPC Elastic Ball Design and Customization” and will officially kick off on September 18, 2026, at the China Import and Export Fair Complex (Canton Fair Complex) in Guangzhou.

This year’s competition will once again serve as a platform for teamwork and innovation. Participants will compete in two divisions: the University Student Team Division and the Corporate Team Division, with awards presented separately for each category. Each team shall consist of two to four members. The competition format follows the established framework of previous editions and includes four evaluation components: design presentation and appearance inspection of the UHPC elastic ball, dimensional compliance measurement, rebound performance testing, and damage inspection. Final rankings will be determined based on the overall scores.

Looking back at previous competitions, participants devoted tremendous effort to creating UHPC elastic balls that could “bounce higher without cracking upon impact.” Through countless adjustments to mix designs and continuous optimization of manufacturing processes, they pushed the limits of material toughness, compressive and tensile strength, and fabrication techniques, fully demonstrating the outstanding performance and tremendous innovation potential of UHPC.

This year’s competition introduces two important new rules:

First, any team that has participated in previous editions must achieve a rebound height exceeding its own previous result in order to qualify for ranking and awards. In other words, former performers must surpass their own achievements by making their UHPC elastic balls bounce even higher if they wish to compete for honors once again.

Second, all participating teams are required to submit a video documenting the fabrication process of their UHPC elastic ball. The Organizing Committee will review the entire production process, from material proportioning to final molding, ensuring that every innovation is fully documented and making the competition more fair.

In addition, the competition maintains its rigorous qualification standard: only teams whose UHPC elastic balls achieve a rebound height of no less than 15.0 cm will be eligible for ranking and awards. The judging panel consists of renowned experts from the industry and will evaluate all entries in accordance with the principles of “openness, fairness, impartiality, and transparency”, ensuring that every team's efforts receive the recognition they deserve.

Competition Registration

1. Registration Period and Method

Registration closes on August 25, 2026. Participating organizations shall submit the completed Registration Form in both Microsoft Word and officially stamped PDF formats to the Competition Organizing Committee via the designated email address. The email subject line should follow the format: Competition Name–Participating Company/University Name. Registration will be confirmed upon receipt of an official reply from the Organizing Committee.

3. Submission of Design Proposal and UHPC Elastic Ball

Each participating team shall submit the following materials to the Organizing Committee by September 15, 2026:

• One electronic design proposal;

• One fabrication video of the UHPC elastic ball (maximum file size: 20 MB).

Materials shall be sent to the designated competition email address with the subject line in the following format: Competition Entry Number. On the competition registration day, each team shall also submit one clearly labeled UHPC elastic ball. The specific submission time and location will be announced separately.

4. No registration fee will be charged for the competition. Expenses related to participation in the concurrent industry conference and related events, including transportation, accommodation, and meals, shall be borne by the participants.

5. The competition does not designate or require the use of any specific raw materials or molds for manufacturing UHPC elastic balls.

6. Registered full-time students participating in the competition may register free of charge for the concurrent China Concrete & Cement-based Products Industry Convention 2026 upon presentation of a valid student ID. Transportation, accommodation, and meal expenses are the responsibility of the participants.
