Recently, the sprayed UHPC construction technology developed by China Railway Bridge Science Research Institute Co., Ltd. was successfully applied in the reinforcement and renovation project of masonry drainage culvert in Hongshan Grain Depot, Fuzhou. This application is the first case of sprayed UHPC technology for reinforcement of masonry culvert in China, which opens a new chapter of sprayed UHPC technology.

The main body of Fuzhou Hongshan Grain Depot drainage culvert adopts masonry structure, which is the main drainage outlet of the depot. Due to long-term exposure to unfavorable environments such as scouring, the culvert suffers from typical diseases such as efflorescence of masonry, concrete spalling and corrosion of reinforcement. In view of the characteristics of the project, the team developed excellent performance of sprayed UHPC materials and its corresponding complete sets of equipment, forming a complete set of sprayed UHPC construction technology from material innovation, equipment improvement to construction optimization under the limited working space, and demonstrated high-quality spraying effect in this construction.

The research on spraying UHPC technology took 2 years, and the technical team developed a variety of spraying systems, corresponding admixture products and supporting spraying equipment based on the needs of different application scenarios, forming a complete set of multi-system spraying UHPC technology based on the synergistic design of materials, equipment and process.
The sprayed UHPC material developed by the technical team has the characteristics of high compressive strength, high spray thickness, low level of recovery rate, high impermeability grade and so on, which greatly enhanced the durability performance and overall structural bearing capacity of the culvert in this project, and escorted the healthy operation and safe use of the culvert. In the future, the team will continue to focus on new materials, new equipment, new technology to develop new quality productivity and accelerate the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries to green, intelligent and digital.
