Guangxi’s First “Steel-UHPC Composite Girder” Cable-Stayed Bridge Tower Successfully Topped Out
The main tower of Yantan Reservoir Bridge of Bama-Qiangxu Expressway, the first “section steel-UHPC lightweight combined beam” cable-stayed bridge in Guangxi invested by Guangxi Xinfazhan Communication Group Co., Ltd., was successfully topped.
On December 26th, the main tower of Yantan Reservoir Bridge of Bama-Qiangxu Expressway, the first “section steel-UHPC lightweight combined beam” cable-stayed bridge in Guangxi invested by Guangxi Xinfazhan Communication Group Co., Ltd., was successfully topped, marking the breakthrough progress in the construction of the bridge, which will enter the stage of assembling the main girder and installing the stay cable, which will lay a solid foundation for the project to realize the goal of opening to traffic in 2025.
As a key control project of the Bama-Qiangxu Expressway, the Yantan Reservoir Grand Bridge spans 974 m, with a main span of 360 m. It features deep-water foundations, tall main tower, and a long-span design. The bridge adopts an innovative “section steel-UHPC lightweight combined beam” structure for its main span, significantly reducing concrete consumption while providing superior structural performance and durability. Once completed, it will be Guangxi’s first highway bridge utilizing this advanced engineering approach.
Since the start of construction, the Bama-Qiangxu Expressway headquarter has been strictly practicing the construction concept of “Blessing Baqiang with Green Technology”, given full play to its leading role, always adhered to the high standard, strict requirements and detailed management, led the participating units to anchor the quality projects and the National Quality Engineering Award, actively carried out technological research, strengthened the support of scientific and technological innovation, optimized the construction organization design and technical program, and required the participating parties to strictly implement the process acceptance procedures. All parties involved in the construction are required to strictly implement the process acceptance procedures; adhere to the “safety first, prevention first, comprehensive management” approach to safety management. The main tower of the bridge is escorted by a number of measures, such as the smooth flow of safety information reporting channels, rational planning of the operating area, and a strong grasp of safety training and education.
As an important part of the inter-provincial corridor G7522 Guiyang-Beihai Expressway, the main line of Bama-Qiangxu Expressway has a total length of 56.543 km, which passes through Bama Yao Autonomous County, Dahua Yao Autonomous County, and Donglan County of Hechi. Upon completion, it will enhance regional connectivity, boost transportation and tourism integration, and contribute to the economic revitalization of northwest Guangxi.
To date, the project has reached an investment of ¥11.02 billion, accounting for 77.4% of the estimated total of ¥14.23 billion. Key construction milestones include 94% completion of tunnel works (15 out of 16 tunnels fully excavated), 97% completion of roadbed construction, and 92% completion of bridgeworks. Pavement, traffic safety, landscaping, and auxiliary infrastructure are progressing steadily toward completion.
