Recently, the first 10000t/d clinker cement production line in Africa invested by West International Holding Limited, a subsidiary of China West Cement Limited, was completed and put into operation. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali attended the ceremony with government leaders at all levels, and more than 400 people from Ethiopia, China and many other parts of the world, including banks, financial institutions, builders and suppliers, as well as project management, construction and supervision unit leaders and employee representatives, witnessed this important historical moment. Known as ‘Star of Africa’, the line is built by three companies, namely China West Cement Limited, East African Holding and Sinoma Internationa Engineering Co., Ltd., with a design capacity of 3 million t of clinker and 5 million t of cement per year.

The 10,000t/d cement production line is located in Lemi, 130 km north of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia on the East African plateau. The project introduces the world’s most advanced new dry-process cement technology, selects the highest level of international high-altitude low resistance low nitrogen emission type six-stage double series high efficiency preheater and calciner, roller mill, the fourth generation of grate cooler and other advanced production equipment, and integrates the world’s leading intelligent manufacturing technologies such as working conditions perception, industrial control, network interconnection, and information transmission to achieve the automation, digitization, visualization and intelligent of production and operation management.

In order to achieve the goal of ‘high Production Efficiency & High Product Quality’, the project adopts online diagnosis and intelligent expert control system for the four major systems of raw material preparation, coal powder preparation, clinker calcination and cement grinding, and realizes unattended entry and exit of the plant, fully automatic packaging and shipping through the technologies of automatic bag insertion, automatic loading, intelligent logistics and campus-card system.
